Sponges

Overview

Sponges are simple, multicellular animals. All sponges live in water, and anchor themselves to something solid like rocks on the sea floor. Often brightly coloured and forming irregular shapes they have open pores in the body wall used to ingest water. Sponges are filter feeders and have no digestive system.
