Swim4Kids

On Thursday 16 October Gold medal Olympian Jessicah Schipper joined eight year old Gus Wauchope, who has undergone a massive 18 operations, for the first leg of the Sea World Swim4Kids event.

For the second year running the Royal Children’s Hospital partnered with Sea World and 97.3FM in a 100 km “tag team” swim from Sea World on the Gold Coast to the Breakfast Creek Hotel in Brisbane to raise funds for sick kids and their families.

Gold Coast Titan Ashley Harrison, Silver medal Olympian Loretta Harrop and radio personality 97.3FM’s Robin Bailey also braved the shark cage for the Sea World Swim4Kids charity fundraising event.

The swim begun on Thursday 16th October and finished at the Breakfast Creek Hotel on the morning of Sunday 19th October.

One hundred swimmers each completed a 1 km leg, swimming in a shark cage towed by Sea World’s Research and Rescue boat, Sea World 1.

Each swimmer actively raised funds by getting people to sponsor their leg and all proceeds of the Swim4Kids event go to the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
